Lake Texoma, borders Texas and Oklahoma and is a short 60-75 minute drive from Plano and the DFW area – perfect for a weekend getaway.

Renting a cabin or house around Lake Texoma is a great way to escape home for a little while without a long journey – perfect timing to leave after school on Friday and still enjoy a full weekend trip with your family. This post is sponsored by Texoma Luxury Rentals, but all our opinions are our own.

And it’s only a short 60-75 minute drive from the Plano/Frisco area – so totally doable after school on a Friday afternoon.

So, Lake Texoma is just over the border into Oklahoma. It’s a huge lake, perfect for swimming, boating and fishing. And the Lake Texoma State Park is great for hiking and a picnic too.

Joe from Texoma Luxury Rentals set us up with the perfect house. We had a group of 9 (two families) – 4 adults and 5 kids and the kids were aged from 9 through 15. Once he heard that, Joe said the property “Lake Time Bar & Chill” would be just the house for us and he was so right.

The property is a “barndominium” style. Looks like a huge shed from the outside and the inside is decked out with a bar and games room at one end and the 4 bedroom house at the other. There is also another 2 bedroom house on the property and in all, it sleeps up to 20.

We were really impressed with how it was set up and everything we needed was provided, especially in the kitchen.

The games room was the big hit with pool table, foosball, air hockey, shuffle board, ping pong, arcade games, stage, amps and the bar. We had so much fun and it was so nice to have that time with the kids without a phone in between us.

The adults loved the firepit and enjoyed chatting around the fire in the evenings and it was perfect for after dinner s’mores.

This property was just 3 blocks to the shore and about a 20 minute drive to Lake Texoma State Park where we enjoyed a hike.

The house was ideal as a base for those wanting to get out and explore the local area or for those just wanting to stay in and relax all weekend.
